Sunday Doodlings and the Summer Olympics

Have you been watching? I am on vacation and I have found myself sitting in front of the TV or on my iPad, watching the world’s best compete! The Summer Olympics 2012 are at the half-way point. I have loved the swimming, diving, gymnastics, badminton, water polo, rowing and I could go on! I loved the Opening Ceremonies – when they finally showed the Parade of Athletes!! But I did love the fireworks! I have some friends who are at the games and I have followed their Twitter and Instagram updates faithfully. My friend Kerry has been everywhere! Tate and Brooke with kids in tow were at Beach Volleyball. I loved it! I am hosting an #afterthegames Party to help raise funds for their Young Life ministries in the United Kingdom.

Now I will confess, I am not that big a fan of the logo. There was a bit of outrage in London when it was unveiled and leave it to the BBC to run a contest for replacements! Check them out. A few are well done and would have been more well received than this one!

I am not a huge fan of the logo but I remember how Atlanta had problems with their mascot. It was first introduced at Barcelona as Whatizit and was tweaked to the more kid friendly Izzy. But when I went to the Atlanta games I wanted to make sure I got a pin with him on it.

I like the back story and will not watch the news for results. I have watched a few live when I have been able, otherwise I watch the prime-time results.
