One of the local grocery stores in my area recently closed. To my surprise a ShopRite opened within weeks! I was thrilled. I love their sales, store layout and great prices. In addition they are also great community activist. For the past 41 years ShopRite has been donating cans of food to local food banks through it’s famous, annual Can Can Sale. Last year they donated 40,000 cans of food! That is the kind of donation that makes a dent in hunger.

This year, the Can Can sale has become the “Cans for Fans” facebook program. This program lets FANS get involved in the fight against hunger in their town/city. This year the Can Can Sale is January 5- January 21. ShopRite will donate one can of food (up to 50,000) to local food banks in your community on for every new ShopRite Facebook Fans.
Here’s how you can help–First, go ‘Like’ the official ShopRite Facebook page here. The more ‘likes’ the more cans ShopRite will donate to the needy in your community. Second, visit ShopRite’s ‘Get Can Canned’ website here, upload a personal photo and became a virtual ShopRite Can Can dancer. You can then email your image to your friends, post it on your Facebook page or pass it along to your Twitter followers. If you are brave, post your image to the ShopRite Facebook page. I am brave–so take a look at my Can Can Dance here.
