August 10th is the day to celebrate all things S’mores! The first recipe for a S’more showed up in a Girl Scout publication in 1927. The name is taken from the delicious, gooey taste. Everyone always wants some more!!
I did not have access to a fire pit, a grill, a gas stove or a sterno can this week, but I did find a way to enjoy the flavor combo of chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows! And yes I have made S’mores with each of those heating sources in the past!
For my treats this week I bought some marshmallows, graham crackers, premium Belgian chocolate and some long toothpicks. I used a Scentsy Velata to melt the delicious chocolate. I am a Velata Independent Consultant, so I have access to the best in warmers and chocolates! It took about 10 minutes to get everythinbg set up.
I first smashed the graham crackers in a plastic bag until fine. This is much cheaper than buying graham cracker crumbs in the store and I think it actually tastes better too! I then assembled everything. Put the marshmallows on a long toothpick. Warm the chocolate in the Velata warmer (it takes about 30 minutes – or you can also put the pack in the microwave for 90 seconds. Put the graham cracker crumbs in a small dish. Let the assembly begin!
I also put out strawberries and banana slices in case some guests did not like marshmallows. The results were great. It’s not the melted gooey mess, but still just as delicious.
