Thanks for entering. We have a winner! Congrats Crissi!!

Del Monte! Does it stir up memories for you of great fruits and vegetables? I know it does for me. Right now Del Monte is having a fun event “Add Some Garden” to your meals with Del Monte! As part of their new promotion, I received a gift pack of 5 Del Monte products pictured below—plus a $25 Visa Gift. My cupboard always has a few cans waiting for my next creation. It was the brand my Mom trusted and now so do I.

Please visit the Del Monte Facebook page through February 4th to enter the Del Monte “Add Some Garden” contest for the chance to win one of the many prizes available, including kitchen appliances, and $25 or $500 gift cards to Williams Sonoma. There will be five phases during the contest in which Del Monte will feature a different canned variety every two weeks. Submit your best tip and then other Del Monte fans will vote for their favorite tip. The five winning tips for each variety will go head-to-head for a chance to win a Grand Prize – valued at $10,000 – a culinary travel adventure. Here are the remaining weeks:
- Peaches (January 7- January 20)
- Pears (January 21- February 3)
I love the Del Monte products I received. Last week I fixed Green Beans – ala South Carolina! I miss the comfort foods of the south–I am not saying they are all that good for you, but I relax and smile while eating these beans.
Par boil some small white potatoes, in water with 1 teaspoon of salt, til tender. Cook up some bacon! Yipee!! Slice up a half pound of bacon into small strips. Fry til just barely crisp. I like mine a little crispy, but still limp. After the bacon is cooked add it to the green beans and then add the cooked potatoes. Heat thoroughly and serve. Y’all that’s some good beans!!
Here are a few facts from Del Monte to help you choose the best for your family!
- Del Monte canned fruits, vegetables, and tomatoes contain the same essential nutrients as fresh varieties
- Del Monte fruits and vegetables are grown in the best growing regions of the United States, providing consumers with a consistently quality product
- The majority of Del Monte products are picked at the peak of ripeness and canned on the same day, to ensure nutrients and flavor are locked in
One of my readers will also win Five Del Monte canned varieties- Green Beans, Corn , Diced Tomatoes, Peaches, and Pears. Plus a $25 Visa gift card. Please leave a comment with your favorite vegetable to serve! This contest ends midnight EST January 11. Winner must respond by January 12 in order to receive this prize. Sorry this is soooo quick, but I have been out of town and unable to get this one posted!
