Join me and AUTISM SPEAKS in celebrating WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS on April 2. We are going to LIGHT IT UP BLUE. This is the fifth year of the global initiative to help raise awareness of this growing health concern. Major buildings around the world are going BLUE for Autism! The Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Sydney Opera House, Aspen Mountains, Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and many others are turning on the blue lights. How about you? At my local Home Depot they have a prominent display of blue lights as you walk in the door. My porch light is going to burn blue all month-long! Why not join others in making a statement in our fight against Autism?

My nephew is one of the heroes in my life. He is 23 years old and is autistic. He recently moved into a group home, works several jobs and continues to amaze me! He attends church regularly and is a strong believer. I have watched him grow up with this debilitating disorder. He is doing well, but it takes a village to raise, support and care for a child with autism. His family has made the choice to sacrifice to help him navigate in this world. That sacrifice is done out of LOVE and I so admire all of them for the way they work through all the myriads of issues that come with a child, a sibling, a friend who has autism. This is a picture of us at his sister’s wedding a few years ago. I love this picture!

Garon is coming over next weekend to visit. I will post a few pictures of our adventures, you see, anytime you are with him it is an adventure! He laughs a lot, enjoys all my jokes and loves working on crafts and cooking projects. I can’t wait to see how much fun I have! If you are not aware of the realities of the autism spectrum of disorders, please check out more information here.

What can you do? Change your Facebook profile picture BLUE herePost about it on your Facebook status. Tweet about autism. Give to organizations that are working to help autistic families. Get a blue light. Talk to your friend about their autistic child, because I am sure you know someone. LIGHT IT UP BLUE. Please! Thank you!

Free Paleo Dessert e-book

The true Paleo may not want a ton of dessert recipes, but I am loving this book! It is particularly helpful if there some in your household who are not gluten and dairy free. These desserts will hit the spot. I am a big fan of the sweets of life, but just not those with artificial stuff, so I have loved creating brownies and muffins from the book already!

George Bryant, award-winning cookbook author, blogger and the creator of a really cool app has put a link to this Dessert cookbook on the facebook page for Civilized Caveman Cooking Creations. Go like the page and get the link for your free download.

PS–this is a limited download, so don’t wait too long!!  (SORRY DOWNLOAD OPTION IS OVER)

Holiday HoHoHo Hop

It’s that time of the year, when many are making lists or actually shopping for gifts, so I’m here to help! I’ve joined up with the Holiday HoHoHo Hop to let my readers enter to win many prizes!

I am offering a Pro Smart Slicer, a much needed simple kitchen tool set.

Much like a Mandoline, but more affordable, this Slicer slices thick and thin. With a turn of the blade you can make julienne strips, or french fries. The second platform will dice, chop and shred. I have used it to make cole slaw, salads and sweet potato chips and, I’ve only had mine for a week. Included in the package is a cute peeler and a stainless pair of kitchen shears. The retail value of the set is $70. I have left enough of my skin on those old fashion graters, so I gladly retired it and put this in it’s place. I am sure you will enjoy it also. Please enter using the easy Rafflecopter form below. The contest is open to all US residents 18 years and older.

Make sure you stop by The Review Wire to Enter the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a large Teach My Learning Kits of choice {RV $39.99} PLUS a Second Prize Winner will receive Teach My Kit of choice {RV $14.99}.
